greyify: (not a girl)

THE TL;DR VERSION

Corv’s brother, Cole, slipped him a Very Cursed Potion when he was younger and now a greyifying aura follows him wherever he goes, turning objects and people around him grey if he lingers for too long or gets excited.

If you don’t want your character or their belongings affected by this, or if they have some quirk that might alter, magnify, or nullify the effects, please drop a line here and I’ll respect your wishes!

THE LONG VERSION

Grey is what you get when all the colours are reflected, but the reflected light isn’t as intense as the light that went in.

The “curse” on Corvidan is that he leaches coloured light from everything around him and redirects it, turning everything grey. The effects vary in strength depending on his emotions - when he’s calm, the effect is much slower and sometimes barely noticeable. When he’s feeling an extreme emotion, the effect speeds up and becomes more pronounced. Either way, after a while, being around Corvidan starts to look a lot like an old movie. His own body is also affected by this, turning every pigment to some shade of grey, including the clothes he wears. Within a day of being given a new scarf, even at his calmest, it will have turned monochrome.

There are important nuances to this that Corv himself hasn’t discovered yet. As his player I keep these things on the down-low, but if you’re burning curious and have to know for whatever reason, send me a private message and I’ll explain the rest. Otherwise, you’ll have to find out through roleplay.

Corv's icons are a little outdated but mostly just in terms of a.) oh no, old art! and b.) his clothes are cooler now. Here's a visual description while I draw up some new ones.

Corvidan Pleasant is a comfortable 5'8" at his full height, which he's often at because his noble family raised him to have posture. Despite his nigh-fervent determination to become nothing more exciting than a humble baker, he gets up every morning at the crack of dawn and has a private exercise routine ready. As a result, he's got a fairly otter-like build.

Every part of his life and routine is carefully arranged. His nails are clipped, his glasses are polished, his shoes are shined, and his outfit is immaculate every single day. The only problem area seems to be his shoulder-length hair, which has a clear natural lift to the ends and seems to want to be exciting, but he combs it into a swept-back look that is only marred by a springy curled lock at the front that refuses to lie flat.

His clothes normally consist of a smart white doublet with a high collar, decorated with silvery embroidery at the shoulder that was probably once gold (who can tell!) and a pair of white trousers. He changes his shoes a lot, but they're usually the pointy and very polished kind with the slight heels at the back that make him look taller and fancier. However, catch him "at work" - in a kitchen - and he's cast off the doublet for a white collared shirt and a white apron with a front pocket, with his grey hair tied up into a ponytail and further covered by a kerchief he's tied into a triangle over his hair like some old matronly type, because he is old-fashioned but also hygiene-conscious.
